A Quick Message for Those Who Need It

Today has been awful. My eyes hurt from crying.

If you’re wondering what I’m talking about, the news was dropped today that Jonghyun of Shinee has passed away. The official statement from SM was released this morning after speculation from fans circulated on Twitter. You can read the statement from SM here.

Jonghyun was beloved and appreciated and he will be dearly missed. I don’t have anything real or interesting to post today because I honestly barely have the energy to type these words.

In the aftermath of this tragic event, a lot of people are going to be feeling helpless. That is not, however, what Jonghyun would’ve wanted of you. Yes, he reached a point where he felt there were no other options, but you are not alone. If you need help or you need someone to talk to, I’m here. If you’re in the US and you would feel more comfortable speaking to someone else, the Suicide Hotline number is 1-800-273-8255.

This is a time for all of us to come together to help each other through the healing. There is no way to avoid the pain, but it’s okay to feel hurt. I hope we can all heal together and I hope Jonghyun is at peace.

      1. Yes, it’s true. Unfortunately, he felt very alone and he felt that it was his only option. There are a couple of different sources that talk about the story in detail, but they can be very triggering so I won’t link them. However, if you do decide to look it up, tread lightly.
