Wedding planning definitely does a number on your free time, I’ll tell you that right now. That said, I’m back to it now with another catch up review. I wish I could devote time to each of these albums in their entirety but honestly I’m just trying to scrounge up enough compiled free time to listen to Love Yourself: Tear and make sure I give it its just due. But enough about that! Let’s get into the singles.
I’ll be honest: there’s not a Twice single you can shove at me that I won’t love. These are my girls and I’m already biased to love them. That’s why it’s so hard for me to be impartial. When I first heard the song, I had my doubts about the quality but it grew on me–like most Twice songs do–and I can’t not love it now. The choreography is precious and sweet and the song itself is another Twice hit, though I’ll admit very few songs can top TT and Likey for me.
Would I listen to the album? Do I even have a choice at this point? Do I even think before I listen to Twice? The answer is no.
Okay, listen. I had my prejudices against Hey Mama because it came out around the same time as Wings and EXO-Ls started making it into a whole thing to mention how much better Hey Mama was over Mama by J-Hope so I’ve been a little miffed–perhaps unfairly–with EXO-CBX. But the visuals were beautiful and interesting so I decided to give this a go and I ended up loving it. It’s not only catchy but the vocals are fantastic and the choreography is impressive for having only one member of dance line in the sub-unit.
Would I listen to the album? Yeah, absolutely. I’m actually really excited to see what they’ve experimented with and if they’ve made other songs with a similar sound.
These are my other girls. I have many girls. I think they’re all great. But I genuinely do have a special place in my heart for Lovelyz. Even though their music rarely matches my style and my vibe, I still listen to all of their singles with hope in my heart that this one will be The One. That Day was not The One for me. It was solid and it was cute, but it wasn’t memorable and I’ve seen the girls do much cooler stuff in the past. Still, they all looked incredible and I love them.
Would I listen to the album? Maybe. There’s always hidden gems. I never thought I’d love Cameo as much as I did, but it’s one of my favorite songs by them.
I’ll be totally honest, I rarely give VIXX the time of day. They’re just not quite my bag. I’m not a fan of them as individuals so there’s no point in me rallying for their music and convincing myself to love it. But I stumbled upon this and I was interested so I gave it a shot. I was not blown away but I wasn’t disappointed either. I was comfortable satisfied. I’ve had mind-blowing experiences with VIXX before so I know they’re capable of it, but this one was just okay. It did the job, but it didn’t revolutionize the industry.
Would I listen to the album? I’d give it a shot, sure.
Oh boy. These are my dudes. My guys. My little brothers who I cheer on at soccer games. They’re sweet and they’re hardworking and they’ve come a long way toward developing their sound. This song was totally out of character for them and I still loved it.
Would I listen to the album? I mean, yeah. Obviously.
What did I miss? Did you disagree with me on any of the comebacks? Leave me a comment and let me know!
The last k-pop dance choreo I learned from my drop-in classes was Twice’s TT. It was a lot of fun!
