K-Bops in K-Pop

For anyone who’s known me and my blog for a long time, you know that Dean is one of my favorite Korean artists. He takes risks in his sound and he experiments with his vision in ways that I think other artists can’t quite master.

Dean started out his career by writing for other artists–namely EXO–and he eventually debuted in his own right just a few years back. His first album, 130 Mood: TRBL played out like the timeline of a relationship. It started with the end of the relationship–And You? Outro–and ended with seeing that person for the first time–21. It didn’t take long for people to take notice of him. Dean has always been a very private person and there was an air of mystery around him that drew people in.

Personally, I loved his voice and the way that he used it to create such incredible songs. I especially loved the songs that toed the line between eerie and contemplative, like Instagram.

I’m really bummed that, in the years since I’ve gotten into Dean, he hasn’t done a follow up to 130 Mood, but I’ve loved his singles since then so much that it hasn’t bothered me all that much.

I feel like it’s becoming a mantra, me saying that it’s difficult to choose just one song that I love, but in this case I really do mean it. That said, instead of giving you just one MV, I’m going to give you my top two Dean MVs.
