I’m not gonna lie: this is primarily for me, but I also love to see how people agree and disagree with rankings like this. BTS has such incredible intros and outros that I knew eventually I would have to sit down and decide on which ones I loved best. This is by no means definitive and I would love to see what y’all think in the comments.
I hate putting this so far down the list but I had to make some hard choices about which ones I actually listened to frequently and which ones I tended to skip. While I respect that this is the OG intro, I also have to admit that I rarely listen to this one.
This is a similar scenario to the last one. The only difference between this one and the one from 2 Cool 4 Skool is that this one had a little bit more of a theming and encompassing role in the album than their first one.
Like O!RUL8,2?, this is an improvement on the last one. Still, as much as I love this album, I don’t really make an effort to listen to this particular track. This is one of those songs that I really only listen to when I’m listening to the entire album in order.
No one tell the Jin stans because they would be insulted this one is so far down, but it honestly has nothing to do with Jin and more to do with the fact that the other intros are the ones that I listen to most often.
This was such a powerful intro. I loved the combination of Yoongi’s voice with the other two rappers in the background. It was also such a wonderfully honest track and it showed us just how raw Yoongi can be when he talks about his struggle.
I don’t listen to this song nearly as much as I should but I’m always amazed every time that I do listen to it. Jungkook’s voice has developed so beautifully over time and you can see the growth in him when you listen to this song.
I cannot stop talking about the musical GENIUS of this intro. The way that it transitions from optimistic to furious, the swell of the strings, the change in Namjoon’s tone as he grows more and more angry. I love it. It’s a masterpiece.
This is a throwback to Skool Luv Affair and it’s incredible. Namjoon has SO MUCH talent and his lyrics are complex and interesting and riveting and I just remember watching this music video for the first time and getting chills at how good it was.
I’m always on the verge of tears when I talk about The Most Beautiful Moment in Life because it is honestly such an incredible piece of art. This intro not only showcased that beauty but it also gave Yoongi his first intro and he gave us something unbelievably magical.
Did y’all really expect anything less from the girl who’s been stanning Hobi since 2015? I remember the exact moment that I put this music video on and wondered who it was going to be that was going to do the intro for this album and then I saw Hobi’s silhouette and I nearly passed out. This intro had everything: bomb ass dancing, killer visuals, and sexy lyrics.
I can’t describe how immensely joyful this intro makes me feel. There’s just something about the soft vocals and the precious lyrics that always gets under my skin in the best way. I fell in love with this song the moment I heard it for the first time and I fall in love again and again each time I hear it. I’m so grateful to Jimin for singing it so beautifully and to Namjoon for writing a song so sweet that it makes me cry.
