K-Bops in K-Pop

This is easily one of my favorite songs of all time. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of listening to Jonghyun, you know that his songs are full of love and soul, and they reveal a little part of him with each breath. When Jonghyun passed, I went back through all of his albums and realized that there were more songs of his that I loved than I had remembered. This was one of them.

Without diminishing how amazing this song is, this is like listening to elevator music but only if that elevator music was also simultaneously the most incredible piece of music you’d ever heard. It’s soothing without being boring, it’s relaxing without being slow–it’s perfect.

There are many songs from this album that have stayed with me through the years, but this one is one of the tracks that I keep in heavy rotation. I put it on every playlist I can and if I think about SHINee even in passing, I end up playing this and singing along.

Some songs are about more than just sounding good or having a great performance, they’re about the emotion and the memory associated with them. My memory with this song is a positive one despite what was going on at the time that I listened to it, and that has a lot to do with how I feel about Jonghyun and how he makes me feel about myself.
