Have I talked about how much I love this comeback enough? No? Well, here we go again. Lady by Yubin is one of my favorite songs of all time. Not only is it an incredible track but it also introduced a whole new wave of people to the stunning genre that is City Pop. Yubin by no means capped out after Lady, but it was such a wildly unique and interesting introduction into her solo career that it was a tough act to follow.

This song is all 80s, all the way. So it’s no surprise that the music video is a City Pop dream, complete with city lights, neon, and glittery outfits. It’s even shot to look aged and every single second is replete with unforgettable moments. I have watched this MV a million times and I never get tired of it.

The choreography, accordingly, is not meant to look modern. Most of it is rather simple but distinctly old-fashioned. Even in the video when she’s meant to be dancing freely, she mimics the style of dance that was typical for City Pop. I knew a little of the genre before her comeback but I dove in deep afterward when I realized how much I loved the style. If you’re looking for a way to get a feel for what City Pop is, this is a great song to start with.

What song did you think for the letter L? Have you listened to Yubin’s solo work? What do you think of City Pop? Let me know in the comments!
